Why do we have to pay for the first consultation at the briefing stage?

The first meeting always tends to be quite a long meeting between client and designer as often clients are keen to show the designer their homes to discuss all their ideas. Ideas are discussed and the designer will already have started to share their knowledge and expertise on key designs and layout. This initial brief taking is in depth and requires time and detail to document the full scope for the project.

What should I bring to my initial consultation meeting?

During your initial consultation with me, we will discuss your likes and dislikes. Reviewing any inspirational images you have collected, such as from magazines or Pinterest, will help us further and uncover your style and direction. It might also be a good idea to have ideas of styles you really do not like.

How long will the design take?

After I have collected all the inspirational images, room measurements we can start the first stage. This should take between 3-5 days. After the concept has been agreed and signed off, I expect to have your design completed within 5 - 6 weeks depending on how many rooms we are designing.

What if I don't like the design?

Your design package includes 3 iterations of the design. The design process is a collaboration with checks and balances along the way. I take a full and comprehensive design brief so it is very unlikely (unless the design brief changes) that you will not like the final designs.

We already have some pieces of furniture. Can you accommodate those in your designs?

My designs are created with you and your family in mind. You specify the details during our consultation time and I work to your requirements, giving it a professional eye and finish. The end result will be cohesive and built around your existing pieces.

Can you recommend trusted trades?

I have developed strong relationships with several skilled trades and will be happy to pass recommendations. You are not obliged to use them though and I’m happy to work with people you have already sourced for your project.
